The Outgoing Ameer/President MSSNOAU, Kamoru Sodiq's Speech at the Inauguration and Handing Over of the New Executive.

This is the Speech being delivered by The outgoing Ameer/President, MSSNOAU 2018/2019 Academic Session, Kamoru Sodiq. 500Level of Faculty of Law, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife Nigeria.

MY PARTING SHOT 

We give thanks  to  Almighty  Allah  for  His  bountifulness  and  unceasing  kindness  on  us.  We adore  him,  we  appreciate  Him  from  the  inception  of  this  administration  to  this  historic  moment. May His  blessings  and  salutation  continue  to  be  upon  the  noblest  of  mankind,  Prophet  Muhammad (peace  be  upon  him).


Today,  we  stand  here  to  record  another  milestone  in  the  developmental  stage  of  Muslim Student  Society  of  Nigeria  OAU  Branch  (MSSNOAU).  We  are  gathered  here  to  discharge  the noble duty  we  owe  our  dear society.  The  duty  of  transferring  responsibility  and trust from time to time,  from  a  particular  set  of  people  to  another.  It  is  another  period  to  change  executives’  members of  MSSNOAU  Branch  going  down  in  history  this  day,  15th  of  December,  2019  at  the  magnificent OAU Muslim Community  Mosque hall,  Ile-  Ife.


It  may  interest  you  to  know  that  the  current  administration  of  OAU  was  inaugurated  on January  27th,  2019.  The  team  was  called  TEAM  CONSOLIDATION  to  improve  and  take  the society  to  the  next  level.  We  came,  we  saw  and  we  delivered  to  the  best  of  our  ability.  We  toiled days  and  night  to  discharge  the  trust.  We  worked  extra  mile  to  fulfil  the  mandate.  We  set  our  goals and  we  performed  to  the  taste  of  relevant  stakeholders.  Alhamdulillah  that  we  are  not  a disappointment.


No  doubt,  this  current  administration  has  ruffled  some  feathers.  We  had  the  good  times  and we  had  bad  times  as  part  of  our  history.  Notably  as  a  team,  we  made  little  contribution  to  the growth  of  MSSNOAU  which  include  among  other  things;  we  have  been  able  to  stabilize  the society  which  as  accorded  MSSNOAU  to  enjoy  relative  peace  and  confidence  within  the community.  We  organize  a  befitting  fresher’s  welcoming  and  orientation  program  recording  over Eight  hundred  (700)  students.  We  ran  RAMADAN  IFTAR  program  everyday  throughout  the month of  Ramadan.


As  if  that  is  not  enough,  academic  tutorials  and  madrasa  classes  were  catered  for. Welfarism  of  our  members  is  not  left  out.  We  had  a  talk  of  town  Jihad  week  program  which recorded  over  One  Thousand  (1,000)  attendees  at  the  formal  opening  lecture  held  at  Oduduwa  Hall on  Sunday  November  3rd,  2019  which  hosted  eminent  Sheik,  Professor  Abdul  Razaq  Abdul  Majid Alaro  from  University  of  Ilorin.  We  resuscitated  the  long  forgotten  tradition  of  campus  tour/  great procession  during  the  Jihad  week  program.  We  maintain  cordial  and  harmonious  relationship  with all  relevant stakeholders. 

As  an  administration,  we  bought  new  standard  PUBLIC  ADDRESS  SYSTEM  (P.A.S), PROJECTOR  AND  LAPTOP  accumulating  to  over  Three  Hundred  Thousand  Naira  (N300, 000.00).  We  offered  little  project  of  erecting  STATIONED  DUSTBINS  AND  DIGITAL SCREEN DISPLAY  at  OAU central Mosque  ton  beautify  the mosque. 


From  the  beginning  to  the  end,  we  appreciate  all  relevant  stakeholders  for  their overwhelming  support  and  cooperation  during  our  tenure.  We  appreciate  OAU  Muslim community,  Obafemi  Awolowo  University Muslim  Graduates  Association  (UNIFEMGA),  MSSN higher  hierarchy,  Ife  Muslim  Community,  Osun  state  Muslim  Community.  We  say  Jazakumullahu Khayran.


My parting shot.  Permit  me  to  note  with  emphasis  that,  MSSNOAU  needs  a  thorough procedural  rules  and  regulations  to  govern  the  society.  Right  now,  such  a  grundnum  is  missing. We  need  to  reverse  the  supersonic  slide  of  the  society  into  jungle  where  nothing  obeys.  We  are humans.  The  society  must  have  a  clearly  acceptable  code  of  conduct. I  strongly  recommend  to  the incoming  executive  to declare  a  state  of  emergency  to this  effect.
